Additionally range checks must be completed before the first flight with any aircraft you fly on a day. Members are also reminded not to fly over or enter properties outside the MX boundary.
Safety in the Pits - If you see some unsafe action report it to a committee member. If no committee member is present approach the offending member with another member and calmly explain the problem or issue. Rember to not have loose clothing or lanyards tucked away to prevent being caught by a prop.
SEMAC Fees for 2024-25 - Fees are due by 30 June. You cannot fly due to lack of insurance after 30 June if your fees are not received before then. MAAA fees will increase by $5. SEMAC fees will increase by $20. Membership forms will be sent out by email in the next week.
IMPORTANTLY ALL MEMBERS MUST EMAIL, POST OR HAND THEIR COMPLETED FORM IN SO IT GETS TO ROD IF THE MEMBERS ARE TO BE CORRECTLY RECORDED AND REGISTERED ON THE VMAA SITE. ADDRESS, EMAIL ADDRESSES, MOBILE NOS AND EMERGENCY CONTACTS ARE VITAL INFO SEMAC.
Annual General Meeting Tues 6th August - Simon will issue the notices via email. If you do not receive the notice by 30 June contact Simon. Note David Wheeler will be back late this month or early next month so the email will come from Simon’s gmail account.
Supper - A gold coin donation is required. Simon also thanked Chris for the suppers and Petro for his Sunday BBQ’s.
New Members - A new member from the Caulfield Racecourse club will join SEMAC soon. Simon has 3-4 other possible members and a mother has contacted him regarding her children joining.
Finances - Expenditure has vastly exceeding income on the past 12 months or more. $3.5K was spent on maintenance in Feb-Mar alone. Unless Rod or Simon is approves proposed expenditure beforehand do not expect reimbursement of invoices.
Toilets - These will be emptied and relocated west of the urinal. NOTE the cisterns cannot be refilled until AFTER the relocation or they will be damaged.
Tank - The newest tank will be plumbed into the new roof guttering ASAP to ensure the container foundations are not disturbed. Petro could get 2 X 22500 lt tanks for $500 ea but the club does not have the funds for this nor is this seen as necessary. Couch/Kikuyu is invading the runways and will not require watering. It will come back if it dies off over summer.
Treasurer’s Report – Rod C
Currently 39 full members and 3 associates. There has been expenditure of ~$500 over the past month and again THIS IS NOT SUSTAINABLE. The club’s balance is available to members on request.
New Items
• Petro requested that those using the Potbelly stove clean it out before us to stop smoking out the container. Only wood/paper is to go in the stove, no plastic or non-combustible items.
• Geoff had Lipo’s for sale thanks to John Julian. All proceeds will go to SEMAC.
Supper - Chris provided an excellent supper which was enjoyed by all present.
The meeting closed at 9.30pm. Next meeting 6th August at the Dingley Community Centre, 7.30 start.
