SEMAC NEWS MAR-APR 2023
NOTES from the General Meeting held 4 April.
Recent Expences - $900 for fence posts, $1100 for mower parts and $300 for the new sign at the entrance to the field.
Access - There is a provisional member getting access to the field using a key which he is not entitled to and this will be addressed.
New Member - Pedro has completed his probationary period and submitted his application. This has been reviewed and approved by the committee. Pedro will be provided with a key. VMAA & MAAA fees must paid in full to ensure new members are insured. SEMAC fees are paid pro-rata. Pedro expressed his thanks to Eddie, Brendon, Mario and Chris for all the assistance they provided him while learning to fly during his probationary period.
NS and EW Safety Fence - The treated pine poles are all in place thanks to Chris Cripps and David W (See pics above). Chris has also installed railings where agreed. The last step will be to install star pickets and wire.
Field Tables - There are now 10 pairs of metal restraints on the tables so members can work on their models off the ground and avoid bending/kneeling. Thanks to Eddie H for this.
Roofing between the containers - Stay tuned, more news coming soon.
SEMAC Apparel - Thanks to Secretary David W a grant of $1000 was won for shirts and caps. David will soon receive 5 shirts so members can determine their correct size before placing orders. Email David (wheeliebob21@gmail.com) to let him know what you expect to order.
Shelter Leaning Rails - These will be installed soon.
John Andrews Life Membership - John had been presented with his life membership award and has sent a letter of thanks to the club. John has been a member of SEMAC/DKRAC for 38 years. SBB will post pics of John receiving the award on the website.
Results of Sale of Models at the previous Gen Meeting - The sale of models on behalf of Dale Lumis’ deceased friend at the previous meeting raised some $4000 and this was presented to the daughter of the deceased who was both surprised and very appreciative.
Digital Lock - A new digital lock which will soon go onto the white container. Members can be provided with individual 6 digit access codes and one time use codes can also be issued to anyone needing temporary access. The lock may later be moved to the front gate to prevent access by undesirables. The lock from the container will be moved to Gate 3.
